7 pieces of career advice that will get you to the Top in the tech world

No one is a natural-born brilliant worker. There is an evolving process in both hard and soft skills. Check some pieces of career advice to thrive in the fascinating tech world.

Wherever the area, as human beings *growth* is always a goal – both in our personal and professional life. No one is a natural-born brilliant worker. There is an evolving process in hard and soft skills. That comes from education, from specific training, from hands-on experience, from dedication, from reading, from what and who inspires us. IT talents feel this more than anyone. Change and innovation occur at an overwhelming pace and it’s critical to keep up with them to excel. In the next lines, we leave you with some pieces of career advice to thrive in the fascinating tech world.

#1 Be ready for the next big thing

New technologies, improved features, other versions, better ways of doing things, different trends are always arising, so IT professionals need to make sure their proficiencies and interests don’t become obsolete. A winning tech worker must rapidly embrace change and proactively be ready for what’s to come.

#2 Make yourself an example

Be the one that others want to follow as a model. If you are passionate about your job, if you go the extra mile, if you have a positive attitude and ethics, it’s half the way to a rewarding career. It has nothing to do with the hours you work but how you work and deal with colleagues.

#3 Think about it

Every now and then, take some time to yourself, reflect on your career and act. Are you feeling fulfilled? Life’s too short to be stuck in a job you dislike. Go out and warm up your network, check what’s happening outside your desk, do some comparisons, discover hidden opportunities and dare to risk.

#4 Constructive criticism is not bad

Take criticism as a “helpful feedback” and get it for what it simply is: a chance for continuous improvement. Isn’t it what we all want? Take out the best of it, adopt the teachable nuggets and move on. You will be stronger in the end.

#5 Never stop learning

It has never been so easier and faster to access knowledge like today. It only depends on your will, don’t sit still. Besides the trainings your company may offer, search for new ones. There are so many available for free. Join communities, participate in forums, attend webinars, receive insights from experts, see new perspectives. From the latest version of your favourite programming language to leadership or even entering a completely new tech field. Everything to enrich soft and hard skills is at your fingertips.

#6 Be bold and go out of your comfort zone

Your comfort zone is the invisible red line that surrounds you and where you feel secure. But usually magic happens outside of it, only a step away. The career advice we give you is “take a leap” and keep walking a step at a time. Remember, if you want different results, you have to try different things. A new career path, a new tech or industry expertise, a new employer, a new approach to challenges. Be confident, persistent and tenacious. Dream big, roll up your sleeves and make it happen.

#7 “Excellence” is the target

Always aim for excellence! This may well be the most important (and also difficult) piece of career advice. We all know that no one is perfect, but you have to pursue the best version of yourself each and every second. And always focus on solutions, not problems. Cooperate with your colleagues, share what you know, welcome feedback, focus on value delivery, go beyond the obvious, don’t be afraid to ask and speak up, and keep an open mind 🙂
